THE LAST GOODBYE

It was 1980 when in Kimberton, England Iwent to the NATA Specialty. There I lived a dream that after some years became a beautiful reality: I saw my Ch.Bengal Sahib for the first time. I say a dream because by that time it was impossible for me to make him mine. I saw him win his last C.C. towards his English Championship and conquering his BIS. I saw him splendid and that moment I wished I could take him back with me. Four long years elapsed during which I learned he had been bought in the USA and that the Brazilians were interested in buying him from the USA. From my bed, because I was sick then, I quickly contacted his owner Mrs. Janet Framke to whom I made an offer she accepted. There and then my dream became true. A very hot day in November 1983 Barker arrived in Argentina. Javier my friend and handler and Rosita Peña, a dear friend, went to look for him to the airport because I was still ill. Since then Javier started to show him in all the shows where he conquered 2nd place in the general ranking all breeds and Best Terrier, always cheerful, friendly and alert he romped in the park with his companions. His sons and daughters gave me much satisfaction conquering important awards.
In 1985, and a very sad thing happened Javier, his great friend died at only 23 years old, since then I showed Barker myself and then we became closer than ever.
One day he stopped eating. I tried to persuade him to do so in a thousand ways until I finally very alarmed went to the vet. Everything was in vain. He had a kidney infection which couldn't be stopped. His last day on June 7th was terrible. Staying on my bed pampered like a baby he suffered pain. We were all there surrounding him with our love. Caressing his paws, talking to him softly...This is how he parted, I know there is a very special place for the ever loving dogs in their heaven. There he will always be. I shall never forget you Bacu.

Barker now Rest beside Ch.Bengal Tarquin.
